Hackintosh with AMD card is more painful if you compare NVIDIA Graphics cards because we can simply enable NVIDIA Card by installing the right Web Driver but in the case of AMD, the scenario is different. But if you give it a try with useful effort and proper research you can easily enable your AMD card. In this article, I will give some tips for enabling AMD Graphics Card on Hackintosh. There are many ways to Enable graphics cards Some card works OOB, Some cards required VROM patching and some card required Device ID Injection with FrameBuffer injection.
The easiest way to Enable AMD Graphics Card on Hackintosh
Before going to further discussion, You need to switch your Boot-Loader from Legacy to UEFI or you can say Chameleon Boot-Loader to Clover Boot-Loader. Clover Boot-Loader is way more advanced if you compare it to Chameleon and Device IP and framebuffer patching does not have that much power with Chameleon whereas clover gives you a powerful platform where you can patch kext on the fly to use FakePCIID and much more.

Required Think You Must Have Enable AMD Graphics Card on Hackintosh
- EFI Mounter (Basic Version and Advanced Version)
- WhateverGreen.kext
- Lilu.kext
- Clover Configurator
- EMUVARIABLEUEFI-64.EFI
Important BIOS Settings
- Restart your computer
- Enter BIOS
- Turn off integrated graphics/IGFX (if possible)
- Set GPU to PEG/PCIe priority (IMPORTANT)
- Save & Exit
- Boot your Hackintosh
Then check whether you are using EMUVARIABLEUEFI or not, To identify that you need to check your EFI Partition (/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI/). Then download the latest version of Clover Boot-Loader and installed it while installing you can get the option to install UEFI drivers where the EMUVARIABLEUEFI option will available you need to simply check that radio button and install. Once installed you need to copy the following kext WhateverGreen.kext and Lilu.kext to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ and EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.x/ (X be the version of macOS)
Anti-Freeze Protection
If your Hackintosh boot is slow and screen waking time is abnormal and your mouse freezes at random. To fix this you have to use WhateverGreen.kext 1.1.3+ and do what is down here:
- Verify WhateverGreen.kext is the latest release in your kext folder /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other
- Open config.plist in Clover Configurator
- Click Boot on the left-side column
- Locate the Custom Flags textbox under Arguments
- Add the boot flag “-rad4200″ in Custom Flags
- Save config.plist
- Restart and check.
Note:-If you are new to Hackintosh I would not recommend you buy an AMD Graphics card because it requires more research and practice you just go for NVIDIA Graphics because it’s easy to enable and there is a plethora of variety of cards where you can buy according to your need and budget.
